In Kids Soccer Drills , it’s very common for you to get advice even when it is not asked for, at every step. You are not alone. All coaches go through this phase of getting advice from anyone and everyone, all the time. Moreover, the suggestions are unreal and impractical for they have not been tested. So it becomes all the more irritating to hear such nonsense.
The coaches must take youth soccer drills very seriously and give no heed to such suggestions. It’s obvious that you must make use of only such methods that sound practical and are already tested. The lessons given below will guide you in the right direction to impart instruction to players.
Your instructions to kids should be precise. It’s a bad idea to impart too many instructions in a single session. This leaves the kids confused and does not help in their growth. The kids end up feeling frustrated due to lack of understanding of the given instructions and inability to carry them out. As a coach, you have failed even before starting.
Instead, make a plan. Include a limited and clear cut lessons in it. These instructions should be easy to understand and even easier to execute. In soccer drills for kids, doing individual training sessions is also possible. This helps them in understanding the basics of the game easily. It also gives them a feeling that they belong to the team.
However, you must not forget that soccer being a team activity, your practice sessions must be a perfect blend of group and individual activities.
Do not keep the training sessions very long in kids soccer drills. If they are long, the students are very likely to get bored as well as exhausted at the end of it. It pays to keep the sessions small and straightforward. In an ideal world, such a session should not be more than a couple of hours. Between this period, make the kids do a lot of drills and activities that they find enjoyable.
While imparting soccer drills for youth, make the kids progress from simple to advanced drills slowly. Usually, you will find that kids pick up the skills at varied pace. Some adapt quickly and others do it at their own sweet pace. It is fine. If you think that such a situation requires different groups to make training effective, feel free to do so. It will not do any good to hurry through the sessions or castigate the kids.
Remember, kids play soccer for the fun of it. It is the key to help them learn the game while they enjoy playing it.
Lastly, compose the drills of exercises that focus on soccer like controlling the ball, passing, receiving, dribbling, shooting and so on. Even though it is nice to include a lot of non-soccer games in the sessions, understand that the focus should always be soccer.
